Youtube video, “Breakup” by “Bowiechick”, has had an unexpected amount of publicity. This was due to her unorthodox yet appealing application of special effects. She used a feature of the Logitech QuickCam Orbit MP camera and its software to apply animated video widgets to her reel. The software makes use of point tracking to scale the widgets to the correct size in relation to the video’s subjects.

User generated content is one of the best things since broadband (and we can thank broadband for making it possible), however we at CGC can’t help thinking that perhaps Logitech had something to do with this. Either way it’s a very clever and fun video production feature and one worth exploring. We’re predicting many, many copycat attempts appearing very soon on youtube.
